Dave, hah! Im living out my mid life "crisis"/dream, starting my own venture, in partnership with a 30 yo graduating from GSB shortly. If you know any good intergenerational co-founder stories esp from the APA perspective, with lessons learned, Id certainly appreciate! Just finished up an awesome 15 hrs working thru the bplan w my partner. Gotta say the exhilaration is just as you mentioned above. Thx for your reflections!
Congratulations on taking the leap Stephen! I've started recording podcast interviews and will have stories from founders that I can hopefully share at some point!
Great timing, Dave! I just got our EIN and set up our bank account this morning. It's different starting a company at 39 (with a 41-year old cofounder) than at 30, but this time I am *absolutely* betting on my own experience, learning, and intuition. I've made the rookie founder mistakes, seen what works, and now get to be the agent of my own success.
Super inspiring essay, @davelu. This is exactly what I needed to read this morning. I left a very big tech company to start my own business and often wonder, "Did I make the right choice?" There will always be another job, but there is no guarantee there will be more TIME to make my dreams come true.
I love this, Dave! It offers hope and inspiration for older individuals who are either starting or considering starting their own businesses. There’s often this misconception that startups are only for young people, but that’s far from true!
I give pep talks to so many in their forties who are afraid to take the leap, so I thought it would be helpful to write this and share it more broadly!
Amazing- inspiring, esp to those in a mid-life crisis. I do wonder, though, whether there's any absolute age limit.
Looking forward to more "older" founders :)

I love to hear that!

I think it's great because so many give up on that dream and just resign themselves to working for whatever organization they're with.
